About us
Miniș wine "...Ignites the spark of love, gives wings to thoughts and emanates the fire of friendship".
/Dr. Csávossy György/
Miniș - a famous vineyard from the Arad region, forgotten in the fog of the weather due to the promotion of the quantity at the expense of the quality of the wines. Since 1999, our wine-producing company sc wine princess srl, has been working to regain the lost reputation of this historic vineyard.
The Arad vineyard, nowadays the Miniș-Măderat vineyard, is located 26 km away from the city of Arad, at the foot of the Zărand Mountains, near the Mureș River. It stretches over a length of 40 km between the villages Barațca - Șiria - Mocrea - Șilindia, in a microclimate offered on one side by the river Mureș and the mountainous area on the other side.
The special conditions of the vineyard, the microclimate offered by the Mures valley, respectively by the slope inclination and the volcanic rocks of the relief formations as well as the influence of the Mediterranean climate give rise to dark, full-bodied red wines with an elegance drawn from the volcanic rocks of the area. The exposure of the slopes, mostly south or south-west, as well as the favourable climatic conditions - such as the long vegetation period, the length of the sun's shine - provide the perfect conditions for producing both the red wines specific to the area and white wines or even elegant sparkling wines.
We produce wine grapes on 148 hectares on four plains in the area: Păuliș, Covăsânț, Ghioroc and Cuvin, with red varieties occupying 75 % of the area. Our wines have a specific personality, the reds are intensely coloured, pleasantly velvety, fine and fruity, on which the Minis terroir puts its mark. The local varieties Feteasca Neagră and Cadarca and the international varieties Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc are produced using classic winemaking technologies following the concept of minimal intervention, without selected yeasts, at controlled temperature, followed by a period of maturation in large barrels and a part in small barrels, most of them in their second or third use.
The white wines of the varieties Mustoasă de Măderat, Fetească Regală, Tămâioasă Românească, Riesling de Rhin, Traminer, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, respectively the rosé are produced using modern technologies, in temperature-controlled steel tanks, to preserve the freshness and fruitiness of the wines. The Chardonnay is matured in oak barrels on fine yeasts - sur lie - with monthly battonage, as is the Furmint matured for a period in small barrels.
The wines produced on our 148 hectares of vineyards are stored in our cellars with a storage capacity of 8000 hl, in oak casks and barrels for red wines, while white and rosé wines are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Wines with outstanding qualities, such as Stonewine wines, are released after two years maturation in barrels, followed by at least one year maturation in bottle. Stonewine wines are made from grapes grown at altitudes of 400-500 m, where the fertile soil layer does not exceed 20-30 cm, with substrate of shale, fissured sandstone, granite, diorite and metamorphic rocks.
